May the LORD Sustain You and Give You Strength

My prayer for you today is in Psalm 3, a Psalm of David when he fled from Absalom his son.

"And David said unto all his servants who were with him at Jerusalem, "Arise, and let us flee, for we shall not else escape from Absalom. Make speed to depart, lest he overtake us suddenly and bring evil upon us, and smite the city with the edge of the sword." (2Sa 15:13-14 KJV)

This action by David’s own son was a very grievous matter to him and he was afraid of what might happen, so he left Jerusalem in flight for fear of death at the hands of his own son. (You can read the full story in 2 Samuel chapter 15)

Maybe you are worried, anxious and afraid. It might be that you are in fear of impending doom or bad news, considering the uncertain times that the world is in right now and the fear of the unknown, worry about how you are going to sustain yourself and your family, fear of not being able to pay the bills or fear of losing your job is weighing so heavily on your heart and you don’t know what to do. You might be going through a lot right now and like David you are afraid, feeling low and you don’t know where to turn, you are afraid and worried of what might happen to you.

My prayer for you is in Psalm 3:1-8,

1 LORD, how they have increased who trouble me! Many are they who rise up against me.
2 Many are they who say of me, “There is no help for him in God.”
3 But You, O LORD, are a shield for me, My glory and the One who lifts up my head.
4 I cried to the LORD with my voice, And He heard me from His holy hill.

Even though you might be going through stormy weather and troubled times and everything seems to be going against you and your circumstances and situation is difficult. Although many may say of you that there is no help for you in God, I pray that the Lord will be a shield for you and that He will be the glory and the lifter up of your head. I pray that when you cry to the Lord with your voice He will hear from the heavens and answer you in your distress.

5 I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the LORD sustained me.
6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people Who have set themselves against me all around.

I pray that when you sleep at night, the peace of God will surround you, and when you wake up, the Lord will sustain you and give you strength. I pray that when you are feeling fearful and panicky, the Lord will guard your heart and give you a sound mind. I pray that you will not be afraid of what man will do to you because if God be for you then no man can be against you. I pray that you will lean not on your own understanding but in all your ways you will acknowledge the Lord and He will direct your path and lead you in the way you should go. I pray that confusion will not be your portion and that the peace of the Lord will be your guide in these difficult times.

Please kneel down now and pray now.

Pray that the Lord will forgive your past wrongdoings and surrender your life to Him now. Ask Him to come and help you and lead you. Ask Him to show you the way and lead you in the path of righteousness. He loves you and is always willing to help those who surrender their will to Him and ask Him into their lives.

7 Arise, O LORD; Save me, O my God! For You have struck all my enemies on the cheekbone; You have broken the teeth of the ungodly.
8 Salvation belongs to the LORD. Your blessing is upon Your people.

Finally, I pray that the Lord will arise concerning you; He will save you and set you free from the attacks of the enemy. I pray that you will also arise and shine and experience the peace, victory and salvation that come from walking with the Lord. I pray that the blessing of the Lord will be upon you and that the arm of the Lord will save you, sustain you and bring you through these difficult times and that your hope and expectation will not be cut off. I pray that as the mountains surround Jerusalem, so will the Lord surround you, your family and your loved ones forever. Put your hope in Him and He will never disappoint you. He said, “I will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are stayed on me because they trust in me.”

No matter how difficult things might be, I encourage you today to put your trust in the Lord and He will carry you through. May the grace God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit be upon you and abide with you. May His countenance shine upon you and give you peace in Jesus Name, Amen.
